If you fail your notary exam, please bring your id, proof of completion, application photo, application, fail letter, and the notary application fee of $20. If first time applicant you must bring $40 check or money order. Check is made payable to the Secretary of State. Exam seat purchase is NOT application fee to secretary of state.
If you do not have application photo you are able to obtain this by purchasing a new one on site.
California secretary of state requires notaries to get background checked prior to commissioning. You will not be commissioned without it. Live scans are valid for 1 commission processing. If you do not pass your class, your commission has not been processed yet, which means you have one year from the date of the live scan to pass your notary exam.
Congratulations! This is always great to learn! If you have passed your exam now, you must await your commission package from the secretary of state to arrive. Once this is received, contact us and we can get you sworn in and your supplies done as soon as possible.
